Frequently asked questions
How big does a screen need to be for the room?
Screen size is set by the farthest viewer, not the room’s look. The working rule is that screen height should be about one sixth of the distance to the farthest seat, so a room where the back row sits 60 feet away needs roughly a 10-foot-high image. The nearest viewer should sit no closer than about twice the screen height. Undersized screens are the single most common AV mistake at corporate events.
What does EMRG Media's AV production cover?
EMRG Media designs the audio, drives the screens, rigs the lights, and staffs the operators, delivering sound, video, and lighting as one integrated package rather than three vendors patched together on site.
How many microphones does an event actually need?
One microphone per active speaker, without exception. A four-person panel needs four microphones, not two shared. Add a handheld for audience questions on a stand or with a runner, a spare wireless already tested and on standby, and a lectern mic if there is a podium. Wireless channels need to be coordinated in advance, since a room in Manhattan with a dozen wireless devices will find interference otherwise.
Can EMRG Media provide AV for an event someone else is planning?
Yes. EMRG Media works as the AV vendor on events other teams produce, reading the client’s run-of-show, patching into the venue, and delivering clean sound and picture without taking over the lead planner’s role.
When does a room need more than one speaker position?
Once a room passes roughly 150 people or 60 feet in depth, a single front-facing speaker system leaves the back of the room hearing an echo and the front getting blasted. Distributed speakers with delay compensation solve it, and delay has to be set so the far speakers fire slightly behind the mains, matching the speed of sound rather than firing together. Ceilings above about 20 feet and hard surfaces make it worse.
Does EMRG Media supply AV for live and hybrid events both?
Yes. EMRG Media powers the in-room rig and feeds the same sources to the stream, so both audiences receive matched sound and picture at the same moment.
What should be tested before doors open?
Every input, every output, on the actual equipment, in the actual room needs to be tested. That means each microphone at speaking volume with the room’s doors closed, every laptop and adapter that will touch the switcher, video playback with audio, the clicker at the distance it will be used, and a full sound check with the house at performance level. A test that skips the room’s actual conditions is not a test.
